TEC is for Girls mentors serve as resources for middle school students and teachers that are affiliated with Phoenix College’s TEC is for Girls middle school program. Mentors visit two different assigned middle school once a week with a community college student to establish a TEC after school program. During these visits, mentors provide guidance and feedback on middle school TEC challenges in which girls are presented with a particular challenge and have to come up with the solution on how to solve it. Once the club solves the problem, the girls will post their solutions on a web page, where all clubs will be able to see how the middle school after school clubs solved their problem. Mentors work with the Phoenix College faculty to establish timelines and benchmarks for the middle school project/team. Mentors should also encourage exploration of engineering disciplines and college attendance to TEC is for Girls participants. Must be available to attend orientation prior to first visit.
