Congrats to Institute for Operations Research and Management Science AND Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers for earning the Best Community Builder 2017-2018 Student Organization Awards & Recognition (SOAR) award! They were recognized at the SOAR ceremony on April 25, 2018 for their accomplishments.
As one of the team members shared, “This semester Dorukhan has helped to cultivate a close relationship between the Institute of Industrial and System Engineers (IISE) and INFORMS. He created a Python Seminar Series, which he has owned from start to finish, creating 3 hour long presentations that were not only stimulating, but also exceedingly entertaining for all who attended.”
As one of the team members shared, “The relationship between IISE and INFORMS has been viewed as a huge opportunity for the school of CIDSE, bridging the gap between Graduate and Undergraduate students. We feel as though this partnership offers a chance for graduate students to expose undergraduates to what grad school truly is about.”
As one of the team members shared, “This seminar series has undeniably been one of the most successful events that INFORMS has hosted this semester, and the fact that it has been in partnership with IISE has created a much stronger connection between the graduate and undergraduate schools in CIDSE. Not only the Python Series, but Dorukhan also helped to plan a joint social with IISE, which was proved to be a great experience.
As one of the team members shared, “Dorukhan has been one of my go-to officers whenever I need help with anything, and he always makes time to do the job at an incredibly high level. He always has an amazing perspective on what is valuable to others and aims to serve those around to the best of his abilities.”
This award earned the organization $300 in funding that will go toward organization needs.
