Congrats to Cesar Castro for earning the Outstanding Fulton Student Organization Leader 2017-2018 Student Organization Awards & Recognition (SOAR) award! They were recognized at the SOAR ceremony on April 25, 2018 for their accomplishments.
As one of the team members shared, “Cesar brings learning outside of the classroom with major projects. Students who participate get to understand how theory connects with reality.
As one of the team members shared, “At every general meeting, Cesar provides us with opportunities regarding internships and scholarships to further excel in our academic and professional career. He has achieved the highest attendance rate for a general meeting and led/assisted in obtaining 2nd place for FSO dean’s funding points. He attends the majority of events we host or participate in as an overall representative and moral support. Last year, he was the concrete canoe co-project manager and specialized in the mix design. In addition, he was the Vice President at last year’s conference. With his experience in ASCE, he restructured the organization of ASCE internally and externally to further improve the progress it has been making each year. He managed to maintain order and ensure our organization is on a path of success at the Pacific Southwest Conference we are cohosting.”
As one of the team members shared, “He seeks ways to provide us with opportunities that will benefit our growth in civil engineering. Each semester we have guest speakers and professional development events at our general meetings to assist us and give us advice to prepare for our careers. Outside of the meetings, he takes his time to meet with members individually and aid them by answering questions or guide them through civil engineering.”
This award earned the organization $500 in funding that will go toward organization needs.
