AIGA, Best Demonstration of Community Embeddedness, 2016-17 SOAR Awardee

AIGA, Best Demonstration of Community Embeddedness, 2016-17 SOAR Awardee

Congrats to AIGA for earning the Best Demonstration of Community Embeddedness 2016-2017 Student Organization Awards & Recognition (SOAR) award! They were recognized at the SOAR ceremony on Monday, April 24, 2017 for their accomplishments.

The AIGA Poly organization creates an environment that allows it’s members to grow as designers, problem solvers, and leaders. They work as a team to come up with design solutions for clients in the community as well as at ASU. A few ways they have done this include hosting portfolio reviews, industry networking events, and real-world design opportunities.

AIGA Poly has been incredibly active at practicing their craft, visual design technology, through their support in events, including the Spark App League, Devils Invent, the GIT Award Ceremony, and ASU Poly Relay for Life.

At SPARK App League they partnered with the Town of Gilbert to create branding, t-shits, tech tattoos, and design assets that junior high and high school student will use to make a game app. In addition, they completed jobs for individual clients to raise money for events they produce for all GIT students.

For Devil’s Invent, they created cross-media from branding, posters, yard signs, flyers, social media posts, and 3D trophies.

For ASU Poly Relay for Life, they supported their community by volunteering to staff the luminaria design.

As a nominator shared, “GIT is involved and embedded into their professional community and representing ASU and Fulton in a positive light.”

This award earned the organization $400 in funding that will go toward organization needs. Congrats again!
